FAA Announces Drone Registration Rules

The FAA today announced its long anticipated rules for drone registration. 

Beginning December 21, 2015, all owners of drone in the US will have to register their drones with the FAA for a $5 fee. Each registration will remain valid for three years.

Drone registration will be required for hobbyists as well as commercial drone operators. Pilots will have to provide their names, home addresses and e-mail address and must be at lease 13 years old to register. The registration numbers are linked to the drone owner, not the drone, so one can use the same number for multiple drones.
